What is HumanSafe™?
HumanSafe™ is a science-based evaluation framework designed to help people understand product safety in the real world—without fear, oversimplification, or concentration of interpretive power.
We provide context-aware safety assessments that distinguish between hazard (inherent property) and risk (probability of harm at actual exposure levels). Instead of reducing complex science to a single fear-inducing number, we offer transparent, nuanced evaluation across four independent dimensions.
The Problem We're Solving
Modern safety communication often fails—not because of bad intentions, but because of misaligned incentives and oversimplification.
The Pattern in Current Systems
Many consumer safety rating systems use hazard-based models that:
- Ignore concentration (the dose makes the poison)
- Ignore exposure route (eating vs. touching vs. inhaling)
- Ignore contact duration (rinse-off vs. leave-on)
- Present worst-case lab scenarios as everyday reality
- Use fear to drive engagement and market positioning
Example: If We Evaluated Water This Way
Hazard Assessment: Water can cause drowning (fatal), hyponatremia (electrolyte imbalance), and is a universal solvent that can damage tissues.
Fear-Based Score: ⚠️ 3/10 - "HIGH CONCERN - Avoid prolonged exposure"
This is absurd. Yet this logic is applied to cosmetic ingredients daily.
The Real Consequence
Consumers worry about risks that are theoretical or negligible at actual-use concentrations, while potentially missing genuine concerns that require attention. Trust erodes. Science becomes weaponized marketing.

Hazard
Can this cause harm under any circumstances?
This is an inherent property. Gasoline is flammable. Bleach is corrosive.
Water can cause drowning.
Risk
Will this likely cause harm under actual use conditions?
This depends on concentration, exposure, duration, and context. A drop of bleach
in a pool is safe. Drinking bleach is fatal. Context determines risk.
HumanSafe™ evaluates risk, not just hazard. We assess ingredients at their actual concentrations, in their intended product types, for their target users. This is how toxicology actually works.
Four Independent Scores, Not One
Safety isn't one-dimensional. We evaluate products across four distinct criteria:
HSS - Human Safety
Letter Grade (A+ to F)
Context-aware health risk assessment considering concentration, exposure route, duration, and target population.
ESS - Environmental Score
Numerical (1.0–10.0)
Biodegradability, aquatic toxicity, bioaccumulation potential, and manufacturing impact throughout product lifecycle.
CTS - Company Transparency
Numerical (1.0–10.0)
Disclosure completeness, concentration data, sourcing transparency, and willingness to share information beyond regulatory minimums.
CES - Customer Experience
Numerical (1.0–10.0)
Real-world performance, sensory experience, efficacy, and user satisfaction based on verified customer feedback.
