Ingredient Analysis
Each ingredient is evaluated using peer-reviewed literature, regulatory databases (including FDA, EU CosIng, IFRA), and established scientific journals. We document and cite our sources.
Context Application
We don't evaluate ingredients in isolation. Concentration, exposure route (dermal/oral/inhalation), product type (rinse-off vs. leave-on), and usage frequency all affect actual risk. Context is fundamental to risk assessment.
Multi-Dimensional Scoring
Our 4-score system provides a comprehensive view: Human Safety (HSS), Environmental Impact (ESS), Company Transparency (CTS), and Customer Experience (CRS). Each dimension is independently assessed.

HSS
Human Safety Score
F–A+ (A+ = safest)
Risk-based assessment considering peer-reviewed toxicology literature, concentration, exposure route, and usage context. Evaluates actual risk in real-world use, not just theoretical hazard.

Important: CRS reflects experiential data and is not a substitute for HSS (toxicological safety assessment). All four scores are independently evaluated and should be considered together for a comprehensive understanding.

Every assessment references peer-reviewed literature, regulatory databases (FDA, EU SCCS, Health Canada), and established scientific journals—not blog posts or unsubstantiated claims. We cite our sources.
Context-Dependent Risk Analysis
A preservative at 0.2% in rinse-off shampoo presents different risk than the same preservative at 1% in leave-on lotion. Concentration, exposure duration, and product type all matter. We evaluate appropriately for each context.
Balanced Communication
We present evidence-based findings, not scare tactics. A 6.0/10 safety score indicates "generally safe with some considerations"—not "toxic poison." We avoid fear-mongering while maintaining scientific accuracy.
