Frequently Asked Questions
Is Apple Cider safe for daily use?+
Apple Cider has a solid safety profile (Grade A-) suitable for daily fragrance use by most consumers. However, if you have known sensitivities to cinnamon-derived compounds or fragrance allergies, start with limited exposure. Perform a patch test on a small skin area 24–48 hours before regular application.
Are there any ingredients I should watch out for?+
Cinnamal and 3-phenyl-2-propenal are the two dominant ingredients (combined 37.5%). While both carry good individual safety grades, their high concentration means users with cinnamate sensitivities, asthma, or fragrance-triggered reactions should exercise caution. Phenol, 2-methoxy-4-propyl- (eugenol derivative) may also provoke reactions in very sensitive individuals.
What does a PSS of 7.5/10 (Grade A-) mean?+
PSS (Product Safety Score) is an independent safety rating that evaluates ingredient hazards, concentration levels, and combined toxicity potential. A 7.5/10 Grade A- indicates this fragrance meets high safety standards with minimal concern for the general population. It is not risk-free for all users, particularly those with fragrance sensitivities or allergies.
The HumanSafe™ Difference
Most safety tools rate ingredients in isolation — one score regardless of concentration, context, or how the product is used. We assess at actual use concentration.
| Dimension | Other Apps (EWG, Yuka) | HumanSafe™ |
|---|---|---|
| Dose awareness | Same score regardless of concentration | Assessed at actual use concentration in this product |
| Exposure context | Same score for rinse-off and leave-on products | Adjusted for product format and absorption rate |
| Allergens | Binary flag — present or absent | Concentration compared to IFRA/EU safe limits |
| Purchase signal | Score only, no recommendation | Clear verdict + safer alternatives ranked by PSS |
