Frequently Asked Questions
Is Molecules 02 safe for daily use?+
For most adults, yes—the PSS Grade B rating indicates acceptable safety for cosmetic use. However, fragrance concentrations in eau de parfum formulas are higher than in lighter formats like eau de cologne, so daily application should be limited to normal amounts (typically 1–2 spritzes). Those with very sensitive skin or fragrance allergies should consult a dermatologist before daily use.
Are there any ingredients I should watch out for?+
The two tert-butylcyclohexyloxy alcohol compounds (making up over 13% of the product) are the main ingredients to monitor. While they carry grades A–B on the ingredient safety scale, they are synthetic compounds with limited published safety data for extended skin contact. Coumarin, the third major ingredient, is well-established and safe. If you have a history of fragrance sensitivity or contact dermatitis, patch test this product on a small area of skin first.
What does a PSS of 6.0/10 (Grade B) mean?+
The Product Safety Score (PSS) evaluates overall formulation safety based on ingredient concentrations and individual safety profiles. A Grade B score (6.0/10) indicates the product meets safety standards for cosmetic use but does not rank in the highest safety tier. It suggests acceptable use for general adult populations, with some caution recommended for sensitive groups. This is a common score for fragrance products containing synthetic actives.
The HumanSafe™ Difference
Most safety tools rate ingredients in isolation — one score regardless of concentration, context, or how the product is used. We assess at actual use concentration.
| Dimension | Other Apps (EWG, Yuka) | HumanSafe™ |
|---|---|---|
| Dose awareness | Same score regardless of concentration | Assessed at actual use concentration in this product |
| Exposure context | Same score for rinse-off and leave-on products | Adjusted for product format and absorption rate |
| Allergens | Binary flag — present or absent | Concentration compared to IFRA/EU safe limits |
| Purchase signal | Score only, no recommendation | Clear verdict + safer alternatives ranked by PSS |
